MapCannon

Privacy

Last updated: July 14, 2026.

MapCannon is designed to work without an account. This notice explains what is handled when you search, discover, save, synchronize, or share a travel idea.

Location and search data

MapCannon requests device location only when you choose Near me. The coordinate is used to position the map and request nearby place data. Search text and landing coordinates are sent to our location provider, Geoapify, through MapCannon’s server. Geoapify and map infrastructure may receive normal network information such as your IP address. MapCannon does not include location coordinates, search text, destination names, or place names in product analytics.

Guest data

Guest discoveries, saved destinations, trip boards, private notes, sound preferences, and recent history remain in your browser storage until you remove them or clear site data. A guest share stores a sanitized snapshot in the link fragment; the fragment is not sent to MapCannon’s server during normal navigation. Guest shares exclude private notes and account details.

Optional accounts and synchronization

If account synchronization is enabled and you sign in, Clerk processes authentication information and Convex stores the travel ideas you choose to save, including board titles, private notes, and saved places. These records remain until you delete them or request account-data deletion. Public cloud share snapshots contain only the destination and places explicitly included in the share; private notes are excluded.

Product analytics

When configured, PostHog receives limited workflow events such as whether a discovery succeeded or a destination was saved. Autocapture, session recording, persistent browser identifiers, and location properties are disabled. MapCannon does not sell personal information or use travel ideas for targeted advertising.

Operations, retention, and security

Hosting and provider services may retain security and request logs under their own policies. MapCannon keeps public provider-cache records only as long as needed for freshness and reliability. We use access controls, restricted credentials, encrypted transport, and minimized logging, but no online service can promise absolute security.

Your choices

You can use MapCannon as a guest, deny device-location access, clear browser data, avoid public sharing, or sign out at any time. For access or deletion requests involving synchronized account data, contactprivacy@mapcannon.com from the address associated with the account. Identity verification may be required before fulfilling a request.
